TEXTILES

INTRODUCTION

Over the years I somehow became interested in collecting ethnic textiles. I first began in Estapona on the Spanish Southern coast in 1968 where on a whim I bought a Moroccan Jalabiya. Where it is now I have no idea.  That happens often when one gives things to people as gifts.

In early 2000 the collection was donated to the IZIKO museums of South Africa located in Cape Town, South Africa, in dedication to my mothers, Esther Sonennberg and Miriam Mabalane.

Thanks to Pammy Warne for her assistance in facilitating the donation.
